I am very surprised that, as smart as you are, you aren't a Hebrew and Greek scholar!! In the commandment "Thou shall not kill" the proper translation for kill is murder. Did you know that in the Law that God declares that murderers will be put to death, but if you accidentally kill someone you could go to a city of refuge and be protected? Do you even realize what the difference is? Did you know you are allowed to kill a home intruder if he comes under cover of night, but during the day, when he can be identified you may not kill him? Did you know that if 2 men are fighting around a pregnant woman and one strikes the woman during the fight and causes her to miscarry he is put to death? Did you know that God never puts an innocent person to death (abortion does) and requires the punishment of the guilty? Did you know that the hands that shed innocent blood are an abomination to God? Or better yet, do you even care?

Numbers 35:16 (KJV) And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

The bible also says something like ....If your left hand causes you to sin, cut it off..can remember the exact quote. But do you actually think it means to cut it off? No, I see it as a metaphor to rid whatever is causing sin in your life. Your and others strict constructional view of the Bible looks to me like you think you are doing God's work, youre not. I am going by the 10 commandments and what many have said on here...killing is killing isnt it? You cant condemn your idea of "murder" and condone another's. Btw I am for the death penalty.
